A Good Samaritan

11:27 am PHT

A very, very big shout-out to Ma’am Sol Roque for going out of her way to make sure I got the wallet I carelessly left at a fast-food restaurant this morning. She said she looked for my address in the wallet and tried going to my house, but since she couldn’t find it, she searched again my wallet for my cellphone number and texted me her home address so that I can go and claim it.

The last time I lost my wallet was when it was unknowingly snatched from me in a public jeep in 2004. Since then, I’ve been quite conscious of my belongings and I often check my pockets before leaving a place. So I was in a mild panic when I went home from eating breakfast at Jollibee and I couldn’t find my wallet. A sinking feeling came to me and I realized that I must’ve left it at Jollibee. To make matters worse, I distinctly remember looking at the restaurant table before leaving (something I often do) to check if I have left anything. My powers of observation have failed me. Sigh. :(

So, I was quite relieved to receive her text message just as I was to go back to Jollibee. Thank God for people like her! This incident just affirms my belief in the innate goodness of people. :)

How about you? Got any similar stories to share? I’d love to hear such mini chicken-soup-for-the-soul stories. :D
